Funding Agency:
National Institutes of Health

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications to conduct new research on automobile technology for signaling early signs of cognitive impairment in older drivers. Specifically, applications should propose research on using automobile technology coupled with other modes of assessing an individual’s health and/or functional status to detect early signs of cognitive impairment. Two general kinds of research are envisioned: 1. Basic – intended to identify unobtrusive technology for monitoring driving performance and integrating it with other data to detect cognitive impairment, and 2. Methodological - intended to integrate driving-related data (and databases) with data on an individual’s health and functional status to detect cognitive impairment.
