The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs’ (OES) Office of Environmental Quality (ENV) at the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (“NOFO”) for the project “Air Quality Management Community of Practice in Africa.”
This project will build a regional community of practice to convene air quality experts, decision-makers, community groups, the private sector, and other air quality practitioners and stakeholders. The community will create knowledge and develop best practices to: (i) improve air quality monitoring, modeling, forecasting, and data management; (ii) expand awareness and understanding of air quality issues; and (iii) develop and implement air quality management frameworks and clean air solutions across scales.
The project will focus on at least four of the following countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Primary organizations can submit one application in response to the NOFO. Interested applicants from within Duke should contact dukeiln@duke.edu as early as possible.
