Building Health Department Capacity to Strengthen Climate-Readiness and Resilience in U.S. Communities

NOTE: This is a Forecasted Opportunity.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) protects and improves public health by building and maintaining the capacity of public health officials to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to existing and emerging climate-related health threats with evidence-based adaptation interventions. This NOFO has two components:

BASE: All eligible entities are required to apply for the base component. This component is intended to provide a base level of support for public health officials to establish or build capacity to identify and protect communities and populations who are most disproportionately affected by existing and emerging climate change health threats.

ENHANCED: The enhanced component is optional. Applicants are required to apply for the base component to receive funding for the enhanced component. The enhanced component is intended for applicants who have established capacity to identify, characterize, and intervene on existing and emerging climate-related health threats and are ready to implement and evaluate evidence-based adaptation interventions likely to improve health outcomes and improve health equity. A subset of recipients for the base component will receive funding for the enhanced component subject to the availability of funds.
