Department of Defense - DTRA -- Mobile and Novel Chemical Warfare Agent Destruction and/or Neutralization
The Seeker desires Solvers to provide novel approaches using existing systems for the demilitarization, destruction, or neutralization of a hypothetical stockpile of chemical warfare agents that can significantly reduce the size and complexity of current systems without compromising the systems’ safety. This size and mobility issues makes it exceedingly difficult to rapidly treat large stockpiles (potentially ~1,500 tons) of chemical warfare agents without either having to build a dedicated facility at the location of the agents (a slow, difficult, and very costly option using current designs) or having to transport the agents to an existing remediation facility (creating the possibility for release of the agents in transport). Finally, the Seeker’s urgent need for a solution to this Challenge requires that proposed solutions must be based primarily on repurposing existing, commercially available technology.
This Challenge requires only a detailed written proposal.
