Development of Multipurpose Prevention Technologies: A Strategy for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) (R61/R33)

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to solicit bi-phasic research applications to support translational research focused on development of Multipurpose Prevention Technologies (MPTs) for prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and/or unintended pregnancy. Applications must employ strategies that further the prevention of two or more STIs, an STI and Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or an STI and unintended pregnancies.

Amount Description

Application budgets are limited to $300,000 in direct costs per year for both the R61 award phase and R33 award phase.

The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The total project period for an application submitted in response to this FOA cannot exceed five years. Applicants may request up to two years of support for the R61 phase, and up to 3 years of support for the R33 phase.
