Earth Science Applications: Ecological Conservation Impact Assessment (ROSES 2024)

Funding Agency:
National Aeronautics and Space Administration

The NASA Earth Science Division (ESD) seeks proposals for projects to collect examples of impact resulting from past Ecological Conservation Applications Area (formerly Ecological Forecasting) funded projects. These impacts include tangible benefits to the end user, improved outcomes in their actions from using Earth observation in their decision-making process, and/or measurable improvement in the lives and livelihoods that their decisions affect. Projects will gather examples of how products resulting from past funded projects were or are used to guide end user conservation action. The approaches used or developed in these activities will guide future assessments of program impact.

This program element does not seek proposals for new applications or to expand the capability of past investments.

The Ecological Conservation Applications Area (formerly Ecological Forecasting) is the sponsor of this program element. The Ecological Conservation Applications Area promotes the synergistic use of Earth observations, in situ observations, and models to analyze and forecast changes that affect ecosystems, and which help develop or implement effective management strategies. The Ecological Conservation Applications Area also supports the development, improvement, and application of predictive tools for assessing alternative approaches and designing effective decision support strategies. Targeted end user communities are natural resource managers (terrestrial, marine, and freshwater) and organizations with clear decision-making authority, particularly those involved in conservation and ecosystem management.
