The AFCEA Educational Foundation has several general categories of scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled and attending full time at four-year colleges or universities in the United States.

  • Colonel Kathleen Swacina Scholarship: The Col. Kathleen Swacina Scholarship Fund awards one female college student, attending schools in or residing in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida or Alabama, a scholarship to be applied toward the student's ongoing higher-level academic education at an accredited four-year school. Community college students in their first two years are eligible if they will continue to an accredited four-year college or university. Deadline: May 1, 2024
  • Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Graduate Scholarships: Scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time students (women and minority students), enrolled in their second semester and at least two semester-equivalent courses) currently pursuing a graduate degree at any accredited academic institution in the United States and also living in the United States in an eligible major that supports the mission of AFCEA Educational Foundation. Deadline: May 1, 2024

  • ROTC Scholarships: ROTC scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 each, are awarded to students enrolled full-time in C4I-related major and other specific related areas of study. Deadline: May 1, 2024

  • Oracle Women in Leadership Scholarship: Oracle Women in Leadership will provide a one-time, $1,500 scholarship to a deserving female active-duty military college student pursuing a STEM degree. Deadline: May 1, 2024

  • STEM Teacher Scholarships: Competitive-based scholarships of $2,500 up to $5,000 each are available to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) subjects at a U.S. middle or secondary school. The scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from Booz Allen Hamilton, AFCEA International and several of AFCEA’s regional chapters. Deadline: May 1, 2024

  • STEM Major Scholarships: Applicants will be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major scholarship opportunities for which they qualify. Applications will be accepted from current eligible undergraduate level students majoring in STEM fields to include cybersecurity, intelligence and homeland security-related disciplines. Online programs are eligible. Deadline: May 1, 2024

  • War Veterans Scholarships: Merit-based scholarships of varying amounts will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services and to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) who are currently enrolled and attending classes part time or full time in an eligible degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Deadline: May 1, 2024

Eligibility Requirements

Undergraduate applicants must be a second-year college student enrolled as a sophomore or junior in a four-year institution at the time of application. A current overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required. Freshman and senior college students are ineligible to apply.

Graduate applicants must currently be enrolled in their second semester and at least two (2) semester-equivalent courses per term at an accredited U.S. college or university.  A current overall GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.
