Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program (RLASP)

One of the longest-running and most respected Russian language and cultural immersion programs, RLASP combines intensive classroom instruction with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including volunteer opportunities and community service, regional field studies, conversation partners, and discussion groups with local students.

Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP)

The Eurasian Regional Language Program (ERLP) provides high-quality language instruction, specially designed cultural programs, and expert logistical support to participants studying the languages of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Russia (temporarily suspended), Ukraine, and Moldova.

Korean Intensive Summer Language Program (KISLP)

KISLP provides motivated students of Korean with the linguistic, cultural, and historical knowledge necessary to make impressive language proficiency gains through a combination of intensive study and immersion in local Korean society and culture.

Overseas Professional and Intercultural Training (OPIT) Program

OPIT gives students the substantive overseas professional experience and intercultural skills demanded by today's global market. English-language internships are available in a wide range of fields, including business, humanities, social sciences, and communications disciplines throughout Southeast Europe, Eurasia, the Baltics, and East Asia.

Russian Heritage Speakers Program

The Heritage Speakers Program is designed to address the unique challenges faced by students who grew up speaking Russian in the U.S. Through intensive, individualized instruction and cultural immersion activities, the program enables heritage speakers to make rapid gains in speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.

Taiwan Intensive Summer and Semester Language Programs (TISLP)

TISLP enables dedicated students of Mandarin to make impressive language proficiency gains through a combination of intensive study at Taiwan’s premier universities and immersion in local Taiwanese society and culture.

Tradition and Modernity in Taiwan Program (TMT)

This four-week program provides students with an immersive introduction to Mandarin Chinese and hands-on coursework in the history, culture, politics, and contemporary issues of Taiwan. Participants explore the unique ways Taiwan has responded to challenges all modern societies face while gaining a better understanding of an increasingly important region of the world.

Title VIII Combined Research & Language Training Program

Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII), the American Councils Combined Research and Language Training (CRLT) Program provides full support for U.S. graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars seeking to conduct in-country, independent research in Russia, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe, while increasing proficiency in regional languages.

Title VIII Research Scholar Program

Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII), the American Councils Research Scholar Program provides full support for U.S. graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars seeking to conduct in-country, independent research for three to nine consecutive months throughout Russia, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe.
