High-Performance Computer Competition

Funding Agency:
Schmidt Ocean Institute

Schmidt Ocean Institute was established to accelerate ocean research and conservation with scalable technological innovation, intelligent observation and data analysis, and open sharing of information.  As such, we are announcing an opportunity to provide technical resources, our high-performance computer (HPC), to support pioneering ocean research and data science projects.

Schmidt Ocean Institute is welcoming proposals to utilize our high performance computing cluster whose details are linked here. We seek project ideas that are able to harness the full potential of the system in support of their oceanographic research project. Successful proposals will demonstrate a cogent plan to maximize the HPC, a team capable of meeting the technical goals, and a research question in line with the vision and mission of our Foundation.

Limited logistical support for successful proponents to access and engage the infrastructure will be provided.  All technical and/or computational developments and analysis must be addressed by the investigative team.

To express interest in this opportunity, please respond to proposals@schmidtocean.org with a maximum of two pages proposal of the work to be deployed on the HPC, written in English, with body text typed in single-spaced 12 point font.  Schmidt Ocean Institute staff will review the received proposals and may schedule a call with you to discuss your plans in further detail. Proposals will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the compute power of the HPC is fully utilized.
