The Fogarty International Center (FIC) announces its intention to reconfigure and consolidate three FIC international research training programs into an International Research Training Award Program for Non-Communicable Diseases and Disorders (NCD) (D43). The Millennium Promise Awards: Non-communicable Chronic Diseases Research Training Program (NCoD) (PAR-08-175) will be one of the programs that will be reconfigured and consolidated into the new NCD program.
There are two reasons for this consolidation:
- Need to align these programs more closely to the Fogarty International Center strategic plan and address the shifting global burden of disease and disability (http://www.fic.nih.gov/about/plan/strategicplan_08-12.htm);
- Desire to place a greater emphasis on training across the research continuum including basic biomedical, clinical, translation and implementation science for NCDs.
The details of this consolidation will be described in a future Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for this consolidated program.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
