MTEC is launching this new “Prototype Acceleration Funding” opportunity to de-risk medical technology development by MTEC members in order to advance their readiness to secure follow-on funding. In other words, the Prototype Acceleration awards will provide funding by MTEC to “bridge” the technology maturation to a point where the MTEC member is able to secure follow-on funding. Follow-on funding is broadly defined to include both private and public sources of funding received at least 6 months after initiation of the work funded by the Prototype Acceleration award. Candidates for MTEC Prototype Acceleration awards must focus on technologies with military relevance.
