Office of Justice Programs Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in coordination with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), seeks applications for funding to prevent and reduce violent crime in communities by supporting comprehensive, evidence-based violence intervention and prevention programs. These programs include efforts to address gang and gun violence, based on partnerships among community residents, local government agencies, victim service providers, community-based organizations (CBOs), law enforcement, hospitals, researchers, and other community stakeholders. This initiative furthers the DOJ’s mission to ensure public safety and provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime. It also supports OJP’s mission to provide leadership, resources, and solutions for creating safe, just, and engaged communities.
