Perinatal Stroke (R01)

The purpose of this FOA is to solicit applications that propose basic and/or translational research studies regarding the developing neurovascular unit, perinatal stroke injury/repair response, and/or stroke related etiologies and risk factors. Research addressing vascular, hemostatic, hematopoietic, and/or immune cell activities in the developing brain is of particular interest. The intent is to stimulate research that will identify therapeutic targets in perinatal stroke.

Eligibility Requirements

PD(s)/PI(s) must possess a doctoral degree in a relevant field such as but not limited to vascular biology, neurobiology, immunology, hematology, imaging, genetics, or molecular biology. While investigators already engaged in related research are encouraged to apply, this FOA also encourages investigators outside traditional stroke related domains to begin work in this area.   



Amount Description

Application budgets may not exceed direct costs of $324,000 per year in fiscal years 2018 through 2021

The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum project period is up to 4 years.
