The Open Science team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is excited to hear your ideas on accelerating the uptake and implementation of open science best practices in Latin America, particularly among biomedical researchers. Researchers in Latin America, Africa, and other regions of the Global South who are interested in open science often can’t access the tools, software, and training needed to practice it. We are opening a request for information about projects and organizations working to address these issues and accelerate biomedical research in Latin America through open science.
In the context of this RFI, we define open science as the rapid sharing of research inputs and outputs with the goal of making science more accessible and reproducible to accelerate scientific discovery. CZ Science has a mission to support the science and technology that will make it possible to cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of the century and open science is a core value of our work.
This is a Request for Information (RFI), not a Request for Proposals or Funding Applications.
Submissions are due by March 29, 2024, 17:00 Pacific Time.
Focus areas for this RFI include (but are not limited to):
- Data annotation, interoperability, and sharing
- Code sharing for reproducibility
- Method and protocol generation and sharing
- Open review of scientific outputs
- Infrastructure for identifying and linking research materials
- Open source software that enables reproducible research
- Training and education related to any of the areas above
