The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), the leading independent, nonprofit organization committed to the identification, treatment, and cure of rare disorders, has announced the availability of three research grants as part of its Rare Disease Research Grant Program. NORD encourages all U.S. and international researchers interested in studying one or more of these diseases to review the full application guidelines detailed in the request for proposals.

NORD’s Rare Disease Research Grant Program is still accepting proposals for the study of:

  • Cat Eye Syndrome – One (1) grant of up to $30,000 for scientific and/or clinical research studies related to Cat Eye Syndrome. See full RFP and abstract template here. DEADLINE: ONGOING
  • Malonic Aciduria – One (1) grant of up to $50,000 for scientific and/or clinical research studies related to Malonic Aciduria. See full RFP and abstract template here. DEADLINE: ONGOING
  • Post-Orgasmic Illness Syndrome – One (1) grant of up to $31,000 for scientific and/or clinical research studies related to Post-Orgasmic Illness Syndrome (POIS). See full RFP and abstract template here. DEADLINE: ONGOING

NORD’s Rare Disease Research Grant Program provides seed funding to academic scientists for translational or clinical studies related to the development of potential new diagnostics or treatments for rare diseases. Over the years, NORD grants have led to the development of two FDA-approved treatments and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. More than 150 grants have been awarded nearing $7 million in approved funding since the program’s launch in 1989.

Priority will be given to proposals that are submitted by May 7, 2018.

The deadline is ongoing and all U.S. and international researchers interested in studying these diseases are encouraged to consider applying.
