RFI and Source Sought Notice: USAID Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitation, Solid Waste and Hygiene (UWASSH) Program

The United States Agency for International Development Mission to Indonesia (USAID Indonesia) is gathering information to support an anticipated design of new activities under the Urban Water, Sanitation, Solid Waste and Hygiene (UWASSH) program, administered through the Grant Implementation Agreement (GIA) with the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning / National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

The purpose of this RFI is to solicit public feedback on the attached draft concept of the Urban Water, Sanitation, Solid Waste and Hygiene (UWASSH) program. Interested parties, including government, non-government organizations, academia, and the private sector are invited to provide recommendations to support the Government of Indonesia to expand access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation, increase the resilience of these services to climate-related shocks and stresses, and reduce land-based sources of ocean plastic pollution through improved solid waste management and recycling actions.

The UWASSH program seeks to strengthen urban environmental management through improved access to safely managed drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene in Indonesia, increased urban resilience and water security, and improved solid waste management. The UWASSH program will support Indonesia’s goals under the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024 to reduce inequality, improve infrastructure for basic services, and increase resiliency (National Priorities 2, 5, and 6). In close partnership with the GOI, USAID will also support Indonesia to achieve their Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets to ensure access to water and sanitation for all (SDG 6), to make cities and settlement inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable (SDG 11), and to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12).
