Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (SHERA) -- Deadline Extended

Funding Agency:
US Agency for International Development

The United States Agency for International Development in Indonesia (USAID/ Indonesia) is supporting an activity called Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (SHERA).

The primary objective of SHERA is to increase the capacity of faculty, staff, Ph.D. students and post-doctoral researchers at selected public and private higher education institutions in Indonesia to develop world-class research skills. A related objective is to strengthen the institutional environment that enables and encourages university research in Indonesia. USAID expects that an indirect benefit of this initiative is that it will help selected Indonesian higher education institutions to take part in joint research collaborations with public and private U.S. entities in science and technology. The support provided under SHERA will contribute towards USAID/Indonesia’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy 2014 – 2018, which focuses on advancing Indonesia’s development, both nationally and globally, with a particular focus on increasing collaborative achievement in science, technology and innovation (ST&I). SHERA builds on the USAID-funded University Partnerships program, which fosters linkages between U.S. and Indonesian institutions of higher education and aims to improve the quality of teaching, research and community service within Indonesian universities.
