Transforming America's Response to Elder Abuse: Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams (E-MDTs) for Older Victims of Abuse and Financial Exploitation and T&TA

OVC seeks to support the development or enhancement of multidisciplinary teams to better identify and respond to cases of abuse of older adults and more comprehensively serve and support older victims of financial exploitation and other forms of elder abuse.

Applicants are invited to apply under two program purpose areas.

Purpose Area 1: Enhanced Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Teams

OVC will fund enhanced elder abuse MDTs (E-MDTs) at the rural, Tribal, local, or state levels, including existing and new teams.

Teams should include should include forensic accountants; neuropsychologists or other mental health providers specializing in older populations; and medical personnel or other appropriate professionals, so that case-related efforts more comprehensively consider and address the needs and limitations of older victims of financial exploitation and other forms of elder abuse.

OVC expects to make up to 10 awards of up to $375,000 each for a 36-month period of performance to begin on October 1, 2023.

Purpose Area 2: Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Team Training and Technical Assistance

OVC will fund the continuation of the National Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Team Training and Technical Assistance Center to support OVC-funded E-MDTs.

The Center will focus on identifying and promoting best practices and innovative strategies, and fostering effective collaborative responses through the use of enhanced MDTs for cases of elder abuse and financial exploitation.

OVC expects to make one award of up to $1 million for a 36-month period of performance to begin on October 1, 2023.

An applicant entity may submit more than one application, if each application proposes a different project in response to the solicitation. Also, an entity may be proposed as a subrecipient (subgrantee) in more than one application.
