The Vital Worship Grants Program at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship is designed to foster, strengthen and sustain well-grounded worship in congregations throughout North America. Two streams of grants are offered--to teacher-scholars and to worshiping communities.
Teacher-Scholar Grant: This stream of grants supports teacher-scholars as they do scholarly research that shows promise to serve worshiping communities by strengthening Christian public worship practices. Grants will range from $8,000 to $20,000.
Worshiping Communities: This grants program for worshiping communities is especially focused on projects that connect public worship to intergenerational faith formation and Christian discipleship, a theme that can unfold in many facets of worship from Bible reading to preaching, public prayer, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, congregational song, visual arts, storytelling, and more. We encourage grant proposals developed through a collaborative process from emerging and established churches; seminaries, colleges, and schools; hospitals, nursing homes and other organizations. Grants will range from $5,000 to $17,000.
Proposals Due Oct. 15, 2023; Feb. 15, 2024; June 15, 2024
